As we congratulate the 240 teachers who received grants from the latest Kids In Need Teacher Grants cycle, we also are pleased to acknowledge our partnership with Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, a sponsor of the program since 2002. Teachers willingly express their appreciation for Jo-Ann's involvement.
Thank you so much for this grant. It was a wonderful experience for my kids. They loved it and learned a tremendous amount about how much fun reading can be. Thanks again to Jo-Ann's and the [Kids In Need] Foundation. Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores has also donated more than $6 million worth of product to the Kids In Need Foundation National Network of Resource Centers. Their support of these two Foundation programs has given tens of thousands of children opportunities, through project learning, to succeed in school. Partner Highlight
This year marks the 10th anniversary of our relationship with Fred Meyer as a sponsor of the Kids In Need Teacher Grants program. In 1997, when the newly formed program needed a means to distribute grant applications to teachers, Fred Meyer stepped up as the first and only sponsor. They agreed to promote the program in their FSI's and provide applications to teachers who came into their stores. A few years later when it was determined that the program should be self-supporting, Fred Meyer added a financial donation to the package. Fred Meyer and The Fred Meyer Foundation have helped the Kids In Need Foundation fund classroom projects worth more than $160,000, enhancing the experiences of hundreds of thousands of students. And because Fred Meyer believed in the Teacher Grants program, the Kids In Need Foundation has been able to add sponsors and serve teachers nationwide, funding more than $771,000 in grants. We greatly appreciate Fred Meyer and The Fred Meyer Foundation for their support.
